PST KUDOS

"Marissa was my son's assigned speech therapist through the Infant Toddler program when he was 2. When my family met Marissa, my son Michael was for all purposes non-verbal. He could only say 2 words and sign a couple of others. With her ...help and understanding, my son grew to have a vocabulary of almost 50 words and a couple dozen signs. She also provided me with the tools to help him grow his vocabulary. This was in only 9 months before he aged out of the program. She was also his therapist during his first year of Pre-school. She always made herself available for questions and left detailed progress reports if not able to attend a conference. I am forever indebted to Marissa and her skill and compassion for my son and my family. He is now almost 6 and in a regular kindergarten class. He can tell me he loves me and carry a conversation. He still has progress to make to catch up to his peers, but without the groundwork she layed, my son would not be at the level he is today."

"December 2007 Marissa Peterson was assigned to my Son R.C. for Speech Therapy. I was very pleased with her services. She came to all of her scheduled appointments and called in due time if she had to reschedule. My son was 2 at the time and his speech was not developing at the level it should have been, she provided the proper tools of learning to get him on his way to learning speech and also supplied me with knowledge on how to help him along also to prepare him for Pre Kindergarten. He is now 6 and although not up to a 6yr old's level he is currently getting continued care thru the school for his Speech Impairment."

Marissa was my son's SLP his first year in school. He had both public and private speech/language therapy and Marissa went above and beyond. You can tell her concern was for the child and not the politics of school. She wor...ked closely with his private speech therapist, attended conferences, made herself available to us to answer questions or address concerns, emailed me regularly regarding his sessions, worked with the teacher and was not afraid to think outside of the box in order to treat him. She requested to stay with those kids, but the district office transferred her to work in 3 others. We missed her immensely and did not find another speech therapist as caring or as efficient as Marissa. Although my son has graduated speech therapy, I am pleased to see her doing private practice. Her talent and skill will be useful to many parents and children in the community.
